Hi Friend,

Creating space in life doesn’t always look like what you might think. Yes, of course, when you’ve got big chunks of time that are empty and free on your calendar, that’s the space sometimes we can aspire to with our time.

But sometimes space looks like…making soup. 😄

I recently made a big batch of Korean seaweed soup with my mom and it just felt so…spacious in so many ways.

Cooking takes you out of your head and into the present moment. There’s a natural slowing down that happens because you can’t actually multi-task. You have to prep and cut each ingredient (or risk cutting your finger!), stir, taste, it’s all happening right then and there.

It’s quality time spent with my mom, with an opportunity to learn a new recipe! It’s connection and the older I get the more I value this time.

I’m taking care of my future self without rushing my present self. I ended up with a big batch of soup for leftovers, so I have something healthy and nutritious to turn to in those moments when I ask myself ‘What the heck am I going to eat now?’ as I stare into the fridge.

Creating space in life isn’t just always about doing less. Sometimes it’s about doing small things a little more intentionally. 🫶

Not everything has to be a big change.

Sometimes it’s just a pot of soup in your fridge, waiting for you. 🍲

What’s one small thing you can do today that would make your week feel a little more spacious?
