Hi Friend,

Have you ever noticed how often we use “rushing” as if that’s just how life is supposed to be. Rush hour traffic. Hustle culture. “Hard 75.” Even our wellness sounds like a grind. But I’ve been wondering, where did the gentleness in life go?

This morning, instead of writing this newsletter from my office, I brought my laptop outside to the patio. There’s a cool breeze, birds chirping in the distance, and the world feels like it’s moving at a softer pace. Nothing about my to-do list changed necessarily but the way my body was experiencing the list did. My shoulders dropped a little more, my feet feel the grass beneath them, and more of my natural senses are activated.

Gentleness doesn’t mean stopping what we need to do. It just means noticing the softness that’s already available within what we do. The way we sip our coffee instead of chug it. The way we answer one email without also mentally writing the next five. The way we let summer remind us that we can flow through life sometimes, not just treat it like every other season of our lives.

What if life didn’t have to be “hard” but what if you could keep showing up as you are and just add a little more gentleness and care to the present moment?

📖 Know

Research suggests that simply feeling time-pressured (“I’m rushing”) acts like a real stressor in the body — and that stress can make it harder for our brains to regulate and focus. When we’re hurrying, we’re more likely to slip into fight-or-flight without realizing it. Gentleness isn’t laziness — it’s a way of lowering the pressure signal so your nervous system can do the exact same tasks with less strain.

🌱 Begin

Take one ordinary thing you’re already doing today (washing your hands, replying to a text, making lunch, driving in your car, whatever!).

Then do it with 10% more presence and notice 3 senses as you go: something you can feel (temperature, fabric, your feet on the ground), something you can hear, and something you can see.
