If you want a different life, you have to do things differently.
It’s a thought that came to me as I was walking home from the community gym where I did a workout from a streaming platform. I don’t usually do workouts on my own but I also don’t like being so reliant on group classes all the time (the schedule doesn’t always work out, sometimes I crave something different, it’s costly, so many reasons!).
But lately I’ve been asking myself the question:
If I want different outcomes in my life, am I willing to change the small daily things that shape it?
Our lives are largely built from patterns and behaviors that we’ve engrained into our days for years. The same wake-up routine, the same thoughts, the same way we fill our time.
And if nothing in the pattern changes, the life built from it tends to stay the same too.
I think about this a lot, especially when it comes to both my health and my business. If I’m facing a health challenge or feeling like I’m in a rut with my career, I start asking myself: are there small things I can shift in my day that might lead to a different outcome?
That’s what led me to begin resetting my mornings.
I noticed I had fallen into the pattern of checking my phone first thing in the morning, scrolling in bed for 30 minutes before I even got up. I’d much rather either get 30 more minutes of sleep or have already gone through my morning routine and be ready to start the day! No wonder I was feeling so scattered in the mornings. I was already consuming emails and notifications before my brain even had a chance to wake up!
So I started looking into what a reset could look like.
There’s nothing extreme about it (so no 5am cold plunges for me!). Just a few intentional shifts that help me feel a little more grounded, present, and in charge of the direction of my day.
